Being outdoors, being able to identify trees and vegetation, and knowing how to navigate in the woods is what attracted me to this field

Being able to play a role in improving forest conditions

What are some personal challenges you have faced in your field?

Educating non-foresters on the subject of timber harvest issues.

What does the future hold for your chosen field?

People will continue to recreate and continue to need paper products so I feel this field will always be around.

What things can students do to prepare for a career in this field?

Be comfortable with navigating in the woods, sometimes with a partner and sometimes alone. Basic tree and leaf identification will help a lot in college.
