What attracted you to your chosen field?

I had an interest in forestry, fisheries and wildlife.

What do you like best about the field?

I like the opportunities my job provides to understand forest and stream ecosystems, to work in the outdoors, and to develop relationships with fellow workers who share the same scientific interests.

What are some personal challenges you have faced in your field?

Learning and applying state of the art processes in field experiments related to fresh water research.

What does the future hold for your chosen field?

The field is wide open. There will always be new and better ways to focus on understanding of our pressing environmental issues.

What things can students do to prepare for a career in this field?

Students can prepare with a solid background in science. Math and writing skills are also important but there needs to be an existing interest in working outside as well as an interest in working with science-oriented people.
